To start a new website in FrontPage, do the following:
- Open FrontPage.
- Go to the File Menu and choose New... A menu of options
will appear at the right.
- Under the second group of options--New Web site--choose
either Empty Web, if it is available, or More Web site
templates...
- In the dialog box, make sure that Empty Web is selected,
and choose or enter a location in the box at the right.
- You may have to create a new folder for your
website.
- If you are using a computer in a lab somewhere, I
recommend investing in a flash drive (also called a jump
drive, a thumb drive, or something else). These are
small memory devices which can hold a lot of
information--plenty for your WebQuest site--and carried
around with you. Plug it into the USB port on the
computer you are using and save your site on it.
- When everything is ready, click OK.
- Remember that you have to do this only once for your
WebQuest site.
- Since you chose to create an Empty web, it is all set
for you to add pages, including your home page for the site.
One way to do this is to use one of the WebQuest templates.
To work on a website you already have, do the following:
After your site is created, you can work on it by opening it
again in FrontPage. To do this:
- Open FrontPage.
- Go to the File menu and choose Open Site...
- Using the Open Site dialog box, navigate to the folder
that contains your website. (This might be on your flash
drive.) It should have a little globe icon on it, indicating
that it is a FrontPage website.
- Select that folder, but do NOT double click it.
- When it is selected, click the Open button.
- Your site is ready for editing.
