Starting a maze in Quandary is easy. When you start the
program itself, it will open to the first decision point in a new maze. If
that's where you want to be, then you can simply start to enter the
information for your maze. The first thing you should do is give your maze a
title. Once you have entered that, you can then save the maze (see below),
and you are on your way.Starting a New Maze
If you have been working on one maze and want to start another, you can
do so from either the File menu or the toolbar:
- File menu: Go to the File menu and choose New File. You will then
start with a blank maze, as before. You may be prompted to save whatever
you are working on.
- Toolbar: Click the new document button.
You will
then start with a blank maze, as before. You may be prompted to save
whatever you are working on.
Opening an Existing Maze
Remember that you always save a maze as a Quandary file while you are
working on it. Even after you export it to your web site, you should keep a
copy of the Quandary file so that you can make any needed changes. When you
start Quandary and want to work on an existing maze, you have three choices:
- File menu: Go to the file menu and choose Open File. Browse for the
one you want, and click the Open button.
- File menu: Go to the file menu and look at the changing set of choices
near the bottom of the menu. They will list the mazes that you have worked
on most recently. If the one you want is on the list, choose it, and it
will open.
- Toolbar: Click the open button on the toolbar.
Browse
for the one you want, and click the Open button.
Saving Your Maze
While you are working on your maze, you should save it regularly as a
Quandary file. In another section, we cover how you convert your maze into a
web page. Here is how you save the maze:
- File menu: Go to the File menu and choose Save file. The first time
you save, you will be prompted to give the maze a file name. After that,
it will simply save it.
- Toolbar: Click the save button.
