Decision Points
Home Up Obtaining Quandary Planning a Maze Converting to the Web

In Quandary, the basic unit that you work with is the Decision Point. The program opens to first decision point and the interface makes it very easy to move from one to another. Each decision point present a new situation or variation on the situation. Usually there will be new information of some kind, followed by the list of decisions that are possible.

Creating a New Decision Point

When you start a new maze, the program opens with the first decision point ready for you to add information and choices. Beyond that there are two ways to create a new decision point--by creating a link and by moving to the new point.

Creating a decision point through a link

  • Click the New Link button near the bottom of the screen

  • The "Create/edit a link" dialog box will appear.

  • Click on the down arrow to the right of the "Choose a Decision Point to link to" message.

  • Choose the option to Create a new decision point (all the rest of the options
will list existing decision points that you can link to).

  • A small dialog box allowing you to give the new decision point a name will
appear. Type in the name and click OK.

  • The program will create the decision point. You can later go back and add
    the needed information, graphics, etc.

Moving to a new decision point

  • If you prefer to concentrate on creating your decision points and linking them
later, you can create the new ones even more easily.
  • Near the top left of the Quandary window is a button group that allows you to
move quickly among the decision points in your maze. If you move to a
decision point number that is not used yet and enter some information, the
program will create the decision point for you.

  • This procedure can allow you to rapidly create many decision points. You will
still have to link them together from the actual choices, of course.

Moving Among Decision Points

Use the Decision Point navigation buttons to move from one decision point to another.

Editing a Decision Point

To edit a decision point, use the Decision Point navigation buttons to move to the one you want to edit. Then simply edit the text, add graphics and links, and so forth.

Deleting a Decision Point

To delete a decision point, use the Decision Point navigation buttons to move to the one you want to edit. Then click the Delete Decision Point button near the upper right of the Quandary screen.

Quandary will handle renumbering and reordering the remaining decision points.
