Talking on The Palace

Talking to others on The Palace is easy.

• Click on the shaded box under the room picture. It should turn a light gray.
• Next, type your message.
• Finally, press the Enter key.

Whatever you type will be seen by everyone in the room. People in other rooms will not see it. It will, however, appear on the server logs, where others can read it later.

Whispering

Sometimes you might want to communicate with an individual person more privately. Palace provides a way to "whisper" to another person in the same room.

To whisper:

• Click directly on the "face" of the person you want to whisper to. Everyone else in the room should appear darkened.
• Type what you have to say. It should appear italicized to indicate whispering.
• Remember that even whispers will appear in the server logs for everyone to read later!

To stop whispering and talk to the entire room:

• Click a second time directly on the face of the person you are whispering to. Everyone else in the room will brighten to their normal color again.
• Type your message. Now everyone in the room will see it.

ESP

It is also possible to "whisper" to individuals in other rooms. This is called "ESP" in The Palace (the reason is obvious, I think!).

To send an ESP message:

• Go to the Options menu and choose Find User.
• Click once on the name of the person you want to send a message to. You might have to scroll to see her/his name.
• You should see the message that you are communicating with that person.
• Type your message. It will be sent to them in another room.
• Remember that even ESP messages will appear in the server logs for everyone to see!

To stop ESPing:

• With the Find User dialog box still open, click again on the name of the person you are communicating with.
• Close the Find User dialog box.
• Now what you type will appear to the people in your room.
