Signing Onto Palace

Signing Onto The Palace

The first time you start The Palace, you might experience some problems and error messages when it attempts to sign on. If so, then please see below.

To go to a specific Palace, use the File menu and choose "Connect to a Palace..." The Palace address that we will use for class is

aingram.educ.kent.edu

In both cases, the Port Number is either Default or 9998.

Changing Your Home Palace

When you first start The Palace software it tries to sign onto the "Welcome Palace" run by the company that owned the Palace software. Because the company is now out of business, that attempt might be unsuccessful, and you will get an error message. Do not be alarmed. You can still use the procedure detailed above.

In addition, you can change your home or default Palace so that it automatically goes to the White Hall Palace (or any other one instead). You do so by using the Edit menu and choosing Preferences. At the bottom of that dialog box, fill in the address and port number shown above. From then on, when you start the program, it will sign onto that Palace within a few seconds.
