Submitting Your Assignments

Most assignments should be submitted electronically. There are three ways that most of you will do this: As an email attachment as a URL that points to an appropriate Web page, or through the Moodle assignment tool. The major exception will be the final project at the end of the course.

Attachment to email

  • Create your documents in the usual way, using word processors, graphics programs, and so forth. Be sure to include your name and the assignment title in the document.
  • Give your document a name that will help me identify it. Just calling it "needs.rtf" doesn't tell me enough. Something like "ingramneeds.rtf" is much more helpful.
  • Please convert word processing documents to Rich Text Format (RTF) before sending them to me. This ensures that I can read them with my programs and lowers the risk of spreading computer viruses.
    • When you are ready to convert the file, use the File.... Save As option in your word processor.
    • Change the file format to RTF and give the document an appropriate file name.
    • If the word processor automatically puts the .rtf file extension on the name, great. If it doesn't, however, then please add it.
    • Sometimes documents with complicated formatting do not translate well to RTF. In that case, I will email you and ask you to resend it as the .doc file.
  • Open your email and compose a message to me telling me who you are and what assignment you are sending.
  • Follow the procedures for your email program to attach the RTF file that you have created. Check the Help function on the program if you do not know how to do this.

Web page

  • Create your assignment as an HTML document.
  • Be sure to include your name and the assignment title in the document.
  • Publish the document to your Web server. (KSU has a personal Web server that you all can use.)
  • Send me an email with the correct address for this document, making sure that you include information about who you are and what assignment this is.

Moodle Assignment Tool

  • Each part of the project will have an assignment tool associated with it. It will be in the section of the course (on the course homepage) devoted to that step of the project and the word "assignment" will appear in the link.
  • Prepare your assignment in your word processor or other software as discussed above.
  • Go to the correct assignment tool and click on it.
  • Follow the instructions to upload and submit your assignment.
  • Feedback will be given through the tool as well, if you submit here.
