Terminal Objective/Goal of Lesson:
Given a personal computer  with a mouse, keyboard, Windows operating system, Notebook Software, PowerPoint Software, printer, projector, a connected SMART Board with SMART Board tray pens and eraser, the student will  give a presentation demonstrating set up and orientation of the SMART Board ,  writing on the Board and capturing annotations in Notebook software and non-board aware software such as PowerPoint.

Directions:  Learners will perform the following tasks.  Use the following checklist to assess your ability to perform tasks successfully.

1.2  Given a personal computer  with a mouse, keyboard,

       equipment and components  into place and activate
       equipment.
2.   Equipment set-up and start-up
       a)  Boot up computer
       b)  Move SMART Board  and  projector into place
       c)  Turn on multimedia projector's lamp
       d)  Focus the computer's  projected image
       e)   Place Eraser and Pens in pen tray

2.1  Given a personal computer  with a mouse, keyboard, Windows
       operating system, Notebook Software, projector and a connected
       SMART Board with SMART Board tray pens and eraser the
       student upon initial setup or if equipment is moved or jostled must
       recognize that the equipment will need to be oriented before use.
3.  State the purpose of orienting the  SMART Board

2.2  Given a personal computer  with a mouse, keyboard, Windows
       operating system, Notebook Software, projector and a connected
       SMART Board with SMART Board tray pens and eraser the
       student will be able to successfully complete the steps necessary
       to orient the SMART Board.
4.  Find and launch the SMART Board tools
       a)  Select Orient button from  menu
       b)  Select orientation precision
       c)  Press red X's on SMART Board
       d)  Close the SMART Board window

3.1  Given a personal computer  with a mouse, keyboard, Windows
       operating system, Notebook Software, projector and a connected
       SMART Board with SMART Board tray pens and eraser the
       student will be able to find the SMART Notebook Icon from
       either the computer or from the SMART Board to
       launch the Smart Notebook program.
5.  Find and launch Smart Notebook from the computer and from
     the SMART Board

3.2  Given a  personal computer with a mouse, keyboard, Windows
       operating system, Notebook Software, projector and a connected
       SMART Board with SMART Board tray pens and eraser the
       student will be able to write on the SMART Board using the
       SMART tray pens and erase the writing with the tray eraser.
6.  Write with tray pen on the board and use the tray eraser
     to delete text written

3.3  Given a  personal computer with a mouse, keyboard, Windows
       operating system, Notebook Software, projector and a connected
       SMART Board with SMART Board tray pens and eraser the
       student will be able to write and erase text on the SMART Board
       using their finger.
7.  Write with your finger on  the board and use your finger to
     delete text written

3.4  Given a  personal computer with a mouse, keyboard, Windows
       operating system, Notebook Software, projector and a connected
       SMART Board with SMART Board tray pens and eraser the
       student will be able to key in text from their computer keyboard
       and save the typed text.
8.  Enter text from your computer keyboard and save

3.5  Given a personal computer  with a mouse, keyboard, Windows
       operating system, Notebook Software, projector and a connected
       SMART Board with SMART Board tray pens and eraser the
       student will be able to launch the SMART Keyboard and enter text
       using the SMART Keyboard and then return to handwriting mode.
9.  Activate SMART Keyboard and use it to type in text and
     return to handwriting mode when done

4.1  Given a personal computer with a mouse, keyboard, Windows
       operating system, Notebook Software, projector, a connected
       SMART Board with Smart Board tray pens and eraser and a non
       board-aware software application such as Microsoft Word, the
       student will be able to use 3 different methods to capture their
       written annotations.
      
10.  Capture Written Annotations
       a)    Define the term: Board -aware
       b)    Find the Save/Print toolbar
       c)     State the purpose of  each of the 3 capture buttons
       d)     Find the 3 capture buttons

4.2   Given a  personal computer with a mouse, keyboard, Windows
        operating system, Notebook Software, projector, a connected 
        SMART Board with SMART Board tray pens and eraser, an
        Internet connection and a non board-aware software application
        such as the Internet Browser, the student will be able to capture
        the current computer screen projected on the Board and written
        annotations to Notebook.
11.  Capture both application background and annotations
      
a)  Open up an application  (Internet)
       b)  Make annotations on  Board with pen or finger  
       c)  Click on the capture current screen button 
       d)  Open Notebook to view capture results

4.3   Given a  personal computer with a mouse, keyboard, Windows
        operating system, Notebook Software, projector, a connected
        SMART Board with SMART Board tray pens and eraser, an
        Internet connection and a non board-aware software application
        such as the Internet Browser, the student will be able to capture a
        selected area of the computer screen projected on the Board to
        Notebook.
12.  Capture a selected area of the board
       a )  Open up an application  (Internet)
       b)   Click on the capture area button
       c)    Drag button and outline the area to capture
       d)   Open Notebook to view capture results

4.4   Given a  personal computer with a mouse, keyboard, printer,
        Windows operating system, Notebook Software, projector, a
        connected SMART Board with SMART Board tray pens and
        eraser, an Internet connection and a non board-aware software
        application such as the Internet Browser, the student will be able
        to print what is projected on the board screen, including
        annotations written on the screen.
13.  Open up an application (Internet) and capture an
       area on the board and print a copy of the board screen

5.1  Given a personal computer  with a mouse, keyboard, Windows
       operating system, Notebook Software, Microsoft PowerPoint
       software, projector and a connected SMART Board with SMART
       Board tray pens and eraser the student will be able to save a
       written annotation on the Board into the PowerPoint file.
14.  Saving an Annotation into PowerPoint
      a)   Find and launch PowerPoint
      b)   Using the Full Screen Option, select a slide
             and make an annotation on it
      c)   Save the PowerPoint slide with the annotations

5.2  Given a personal computer  with a mouse, keyboard, Windows
       operating system, Notebook Software, Microsoft PowerPoint
       software, projector and a connected SMART Board with SMART
       Board tray pens and eraser the student will be able to save a
       written  annotation on the Board into Notebook..
15.  Saving a PowerPoint annotation into Notebook
       a)  Find and launch PowerPoint
       b)  Using the Full Screen Option, select a slide
             and make an annotation on it

       c)  Save the annotations and PowerPoint Slide in
            Notebook
