Evaluating WWW Resources

Evaluating the Revision Date

Take a look at the web page in the frame below, which is taken from http://home.eznet.net/~spoon/morgan.html.

This web page is a nice, simple home page for a local chapter of the New York State Archeology Association. It has an overview of the organization including its history, activities, and contact information. The page is not elaborate, but it still presents the needed information effectively.

Look at the bottom of the page, though. Under the information about the author and his credentials is a date. This page was written on 09/02/96.

Sometimes, it is important to note when web pages have been last updated. In this case, the page is pretty old. As a reader of web pages, you have to determine if the information is recent enough to be considered reliable.
