You can easily change the background of an individual page (we will get
to how you change the background of a group of pages later). you have a
choice of a variety of solid background colors as well as the option of
placing an image of some sort in the background.
If you choose to use an image as the background on a page, you should
keep several things in mind. First, you have the same options for
background images that you have for other graphics: GIFs, JPGs, and PNGs.
Second, your choice of image is crucial: if it is too "busy"
then your visitors will not be able to read the text on the page. Light
text will disappear in the light areas of the image while dark text
disappears in the dark areas. Finally, most background images are very
small pictures, which the browser repeats over and over across and down
the page (this is called "tiling"). Big background pictures
just waste bandwidth.
To change a background:
- Use the File.... Properties... menu to bring up a wide variety of
choices for your page.
- Click the Background tab near the top of the dialog box.
- To change to a different solid color for the background, use the
dropdown color menu near the middle of the dialog box.
- To change to a background picture, click on the check box to
select that option, then type in or browse to the image file that
you want to use.
