While you are editing pages, you can view them in one of three Modes: Normal, HTML, and Preview. Select the mode using the three tabs at the bottom left of the edit window.

Most of the time you will use Normal mode, because that is where you edit pages, enter text and graphics, and format your material. Many people rarely leave Normal mode.

HTML mode allows you to view and change the HTML source code. This is the code that is sent out by the web server and used by the browser to construct the page. One way to learn a little HTML is by examining the code that produces various effects on your pages. Unless you know what you are doing, you will probably avoid editing it, however, since that could mess things up for you.

The Preview mode shows you how the page might look in Internet Explorer. Be warned, however, the preview is not going to be perfect, so you need to use your actual browser software to check your site as well. You cannot edit the page in preview mode, and you should not try to use it as a browser.
